Teens are often the most enthusiastic of travelers, but their interests and schedules are not always aligned with younger peers or their parents. A recent trip to Puerto Vallarta with our sons and one of their friend revealed a great difference between the younger and the older teens. While the 14 year old would love to spend time and fit in with his older sibling and friend, the older teens 18 and 19 would much rather sleep until 10 a.m., load up on a huge breakfast and hang out with teens closer to their age. If you want to make plans, make sure it fits their schedule as well. Do not plan an excursion for 7 a.m. in the morning.
Choosing the right vacation is an important decision. Vacation with teens in mind is very important because it could make or break your vacation. The hardest part of planning these trips is to find the time that works for everyone. Make sure that the destination you choose is teen friendly, safe and will keep them entertained throughout your vacation. There is a big difference when you are planning a vacation with teens involved than when they are pre-teens. Alaska might not be the first choice for your teen. Teens are only focused on fun and adventure. They could be content on just lying on the local beach for the week and that would be fine with them. It could be just swimming, laying by the pool, getting their tan on or water activities offered where you are. Recommended are places with a beach, water sports, swimming pool, ATV, horseback riding, canopy, restaurants, and don't forg
et the night life for the older teens. Plan ahead and make sure you are getting the best deal possible. Don't be afraid to search and compare prices. If you find a better deal elsewhere, go for it.
